Football Update: FIFA Insist that Nantes Must be Compensated with Sum of €6 Million for Sala Transfer by Cardiff.

According to the recent report coming from Football governing body on Monday, Cardiff City has been mandated to pay Nantes a sum of €6 million for the transfer of Emiliano Sala who died in a plane crash on his way to the Welsh club early this year from France.

The amount stated on the report was agreed as the first payment for the player.

Sala who was announced to have die when his plane crashed in the English Channel was travelling to Cardiff from the French club in January after signing for £15 million (around €16,914) transfer fee to English club Cardiff.

The 28-year-old Argentine striker body was recovered nearly three weeks later after an underwater search found the wreckage. Meanwhile, Pilot David Ibbotson body has not been found till this moment.

As the result of this incident, the two clubs were involved in a dispute over when the first payment of the fee should be paid and FIFA started inquiring on Sala's transfer following a claim from the French club in February.

FIFA decision on the matter concerning the both clubs were released on Monday and FIFA went further to state that, they could appeal against it to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

"The FIFA Players' Status Committee established that Cardiff City FC must pay FC Nantes the sum of 6,000,000 euros, corresponding to the first instalment due in accordance with the transfer agreement," FIFA said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Cardiff chairman Mehmet Dalman has come out to say that, the club would pay the transfer fee "if contractually obliged".
