It’s
no longer a things of speculation, Lionel Messi has been given the prestigious
award for 2018/2019 football season. While giving his speech after receiving
the record sixth Ballon d'Or award on Monday, the Barcelona talisman Messi, states that, he can still improve more on the game.
Messi
defeated Liverpool’s defender Virgil van Dijk and Juventus forward Cristiano
Ronaldo to win the 2019 prestigious award.
According to what Messi told the pressmen "I'm happy to live this, on a personal level and also on the sporting side. I try every time to improve myself. I have the belief that I can always do more. This prize is always special, but what matters most is collective success."
Messi, the Argentinian went further praise his team-mates, his family and those who voted for him, who "allowed me to have this distinction."
"A few years ago, I received my first Ballon d'Or in Paris," he added. "And it was unthinkable what I was living at the time. Now I have a sixth. It's a different moment."
If
you recall, the Barcelona superstar won the award in 2009 at first, and he has
been a constant contender ever since then.
With
this recent victory on Monday, he has moved clear of C. Ronaldo, who had equal
him on five Ballons d'Or award in 2017.
C.
Ronaldo who is currently at the age of 34-year-old never looked likely to contending
Messi's claim this year. Although, the Barcelona superstar biggest running this
year was Liverpool centre-back defender Virgil van Dijk, who won the UEFA best
player of the year.
Van
Dijk, the Dutchman captain was aiming to be the second defender to win the
Ballon d'Or after Fabio Cannavaro won it in 2006. Many People believes he had a
strong claim to the award, after playing a vital role in Liverpool's UEFA
Champions League win last season and also ending their Premier League campaign
with 97 points, but unfortunately could win the league with such great point.
According
to Ryan Baldi the Football writer, felt Messi was the right winner of this year
Ballon d’Or,
Van Dijk has had an amazing year. He’s the best CB in the world by a mile and worthy of the recognition he’s getting. Like so many before him — Robben, Ribery, Xavi, Iniesta, Sneijder — he’s unfortunate to be around at the same time as Messi when it comes to the Ballon d’Or— Ryan Baldi (@RyanBaldiFW) December 2, 2019
Also,
Gary Lineker the former Barcelona striker also believed Messi was the correct
choice to win the ward this year.
Messi wins his 6th Ballon d’Or. His numbers this year are once again truly extraordinary. He’s head and shoulders the best player in world football. He plays a game that is both joyous and incomprehensible to mere mortals. The award is totally meritorious. 👏🏻👏🏻— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) December 2, 2019
As
we all know, Ballon d'Or is a season year award and Messi, who is presently at
the age of 32, has reverted 46 goals and 18 assists so far in 2019 season for
both club and nation.
Messi
hasn't scored less than 50 goals in a season year since 2013, however,
Barcelona has five additional matches this year in which he can build his effectively
mind-boggling count.
At
the point when the Barcelona come back from their winter break on January 4, we
probably would be hoping and believing that his run for the 2020 Ballon d'Or
will start.
Here
are some of the reactions from football lovers all over the world on social

'You know we're sitting here tonight and you look at the result of the ballon dor and see that messi has won 6 of them in his career so far and it makes you ask the question what is paul pogba actually doing in his career' pic.twitter.com/1fYKqsH4vl— Sweeney (@Sweeney_1888) December 2, 2019
Please. kindly drop your comment to encourage us to do more. Best RegardsMessi will win the ballon dor today but let’s not forget that Ronaldo’s 2018 was clearly better and somehow modric got the award, and with more points than Ronaldo’s 2016 win. Another failed ucl campaign and worst international competition of Messi’s career is apparently enough— Daniel (@Dannn777) December 2, 2019
Messix well done 👆
