It was really a show time for Barcelona strikers yesterday as Griezmann's open the scoring for the host with the fine finish while Messi netting a hat-trick and Luis Suárez adding more magic with a stunning back-heel goal.
Marc-André ter Stegenas cannot be left out, after putting up one of the brilliant performances in the season, making some dangerous save at Barcelona goal post.
Meanwhile, in the earlier match yesterday, Real Madrid defeated Espanyol 2-0 victory, to be on top of the table but Barcelona's win, later on, left both teams tied on points with Barcelona club leading with a goal difference.
Brilliant exchange of passes at 43rd minutes played between Frenkie de Jong and Sergi Roberto link up with Suárez's who wasted no time to put the ball back in the net with a back-heel.
Suárez who was close to the six-yard box found himself at the tight corner and left with no other option than to hit the ball with the back of his right foot, making the ball bounce off the ground over Manolo Reina the Mallorca goalkeeper.
After the match, Suarez made a statement;
“I knew I had a difficult angle, my only option was to back-heel the ball firmly so it would bounce and make it harder for the goalkeeper,” Suárez said. “It wouldn’t be impossible for the ball to go through if it didn’t bounce. Luckily it worked and it was a beautiful goal.”
On before the match, Messi presented his Ballon d'Or award which he won as the best player of the season last Monday alongside with Messi's three young sons carried the trophy out to him as the Camp Nou to the fans while prompting the crowd to chant his name. What a beautiful moment.
The Barcelona superstar didn’t waste time to start fulfilling his promise made at the award event, that he can improve more on the game. In no doubt Messi was at his best last night, scoring Barcelona second goal with a superb curling left-footed shot into the top corner in the 17th minute and later on, making it a brace before the half-time of the match with another well-placed strike from outside the box area.
Meanwhile, the visitors tried to level up during the first half, Ante Budimir scoring Mallorca's first goals in the 35th minutes from a deflected shot.
At the second half, the visitors netted another goal from the Ante Budimir header in 64th minutes played of the match.
In 83rd minute it was Messi who came up to set a new La-Liga hat-trick record to 35th from inside the box area linking up to Suárez's assist. The last goal has made Messi be leading in this season's scoring charts with 12 goals, with one goal ahead of Real Madrid's Karim Benzema.
After the matches played yesterday, Barcelona has won nine of their last 10 league matches, including four in a row, and have lost only once in their last 14 games in all competitions this season. Meanwhile, Madrid's extended their unbeaten run in all competitions this season to nine matches and making it their fourth straight win in the league this season.
